Job Description
Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, as a Buyer you will be responsible for procuring quality materials and services that meet schedule, specification, and budget requirements. Coordinating “off the shelf” and custom materials, you will prepare and solicit Requests for Quotes (RFQs), determine supplier qualifications, and negotiate schedule, prices, and terms of procurement options. The ideal candidates will understand inventory control methods and excellent documentation skills.
Shift Information:
- Monday-Friday 7am-3pm
- Coordinate procurement efforts using technical specifications and performance parameters
- Write and review purchase orders, research material specifications and delivery requirements based on schedules
- Perform negotiations in accordance with the Outline of Authority to Act and document price analysis
- Review previous quality, on-time delivery, and cost performance records. Assist in developing supplier facility surveys
- A BA/BS in a related field, or AA/AS plus 2 years directly related experience, or 6 years directly related experience
- Knowledge of ship repair, overhaul and modernization processes and procedures is preferred
- Computer proficiency with MS Office products, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Familiarity with pricing structures for commodity materials and commodity material sources
