Welder
Job Description
As a welder you will be responsible for inspecting materials, maintaining tools, performing pre-welding preparations, welding components according to specifications, and diligently following safety regulations. Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver quality consistency in their work is necessary. Those with previous experience performing flux core, stick and/or steel welding in a shipyard or in a similar environment are highly sought.
Shift Information:
- Day and swing shifts available
- Read and interpret blueprints and schematics
- Determine the required tools, materials and welding methods needed for each project
- Assemble, install, and repair pipe components and systems according to specifications
- Prepare working materials by clamping, cutting or applying chemical solutions to piping
- Examine completed welds to ensure they are smooth, free of defects, and functional
- High School Diploma or GED
- Previous NAVSEA, trade school diploma, completed apprenticeship program, or certification preferred
- Prior experience as a Pipe (and/or Structural) Welder Working knowledge of AWS, API, ANSI, and ASME codes and standards
- Knowledge and experience with welding equipment and processes
