Accounting Assistant
Job Description
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Accounting Assistant plays a key role in supporting the district’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy across accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, utility billing, customer service, and recordkeeping functions. Successful candidates will be reliable, detail-oriented professionals who take pride in accurate work and enjoy contributing to a mission-driven public service organization.
Shift Information:
- Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:30pm
- Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and daily bank deposits
- Support utility billing, customer service inquiries, billing adjustments, and final account settlements
- Maintain financial records, general ledger entries, and assist with monthly/quarterly tax filings
- Provide administrative support to the Finance Department and assist with Board clerk duties as assigned
- Ensure accurate, timely recordkeeping in accordance with District policies and procedures
- High school diploma or equivalent and a valid Washington State driver’s license required
- At least 1 year of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or finance
- Proficiency with spreadsheets, financial software, and 10-key calculator operation
- Strong attention to detail, organization skills, and ability to meet strict deadlines
- Positive attitude, flexibility, and ability to work independently or as part of a team
