West Sound Workforce is supporting a busy, employee-owned equipment rental company in the search for an Assistant Store Manager who enjoys a balance of leadership and front-line involvement. Invested in their employees’ success, this long-standing company has been providing quality products and expert guidance to the community since 1906.

As Assistant Store Manager, you’ll be a key player in shaping the customer experience, coaching and developing a team, and keeping store operations running smoothly. You’ll work closely with the Store Manager to oversee daily activities, maintain inventory accuracy, and help foster a culture rooted in Service, Teamwork, Ownership, Integrity, and Curiosity. Successful candidates are hands-on leaders who enjoy managing a team while staying actively involved in daily operations.

Shift information:
  • Full time, 8 am – 5 pm
  • Shift includes one weekend day
What you will do as Assistant Store Manager:
  • Lead, train, schedule, and coach front-end and receiving staff, supporting performance and accountability
  • Oversee daily store operations, including opening/closing procedures, inventory accuracy, and equipment handling
  • Assist customers with rentals, including loading/unloading equipment and ensuring safe operation of machinery
  • Maintain merchandising standards, a safe and organized environment, and a welcoming customer experience
  • Participate in hiring, planning, and store initiatives, contributing to team development and community engagement
What we are looking for:
  • High school diploma or GED and a minimum of 3 years managing a retail or rental operation with direct supervisory responsibilities
  • Hands-on leadership skills, including coaching, training, and team management
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience with equipment maintenance or small engine repair; ability to safely operate and handle heavy machinery
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills to manage inventory, merchandising, and day-to-day store operations
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing for extended periods and safely lifting/moving equipment up to 100+ pounds
