Carpenter's Helper
Job Description
The Carpenter's Helper will report directly to the contractor and support the deck-building project by measuring, cutting, and working with lumber and decking materials. The ideal candidate will be familiar with general construction principles, have some framing experience, and possess a strong desire to learn. Success in this role requires attention to detail, a solid work ethic, and the ability to accurately complete tasks as directed. This position offers a chance to grow your skills in residential construction while working in a team-oriented environment.
Shift information:
- Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm
- Assist with material preparation by measuring, cutting, and shaping lumber or other materials to specified dimensions, assisting in framing, decking, and general construction tasks
- Safely transport tools, equipment, and materials to and from the work site, ensuring everything is available and organized for the carpenter's use
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by clearing debris, cleaning tools, and ensuring machinery is in proper working order
- Hold, align, or position lumber, timbers, or panels during construction to aid in fastening and cutting, ensuring that the materials are set according to the required specifications
- Previous construction experience
- Familiarity with general construction tasks, including framing, measuring, and cutting materials
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting heavy materials, standing for long periods, and working outdoors in various weather conditions
- Comfort with measurements and basic math calculations to accurately cut and measure materials
- Proficiency in using basic construction tools like saws, drills, hammers, and measuring tapes
- Ability to understanding and follow safety guidelines to maintain a safe working environment on the job site
Additional Information
