Job Description

West Sound Workforce is assisting a well-established, award-winning home and garden center on Vashon Island in hiring a Counter Sales Associate to join their team. Reporting to the Sales Manager, this position serves as a friendly, knowledgeable first point of contact for customers purchasing building materials. You’ll be part of a collaborative team that takes pride in solving problems, answering questions, and helping customers get the right products for their projects. This is a great fit for someone who enjoys working with people, thrives in a busy environment, and wants to learn more about the tools, materials, and methods used in construction and home improvement.

Shift information:

Full-time
Retail hours, including one weekend day per week
Paid ferry pass for off-island commuters

What you will do as Counter Sales Associate:

Assist contractor and DIY customers at the building materials counter
Generate accurate sales invoices and process transactions
Provide knowledgeable product and order support by phone and in person
Coordinate with yard staff to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment
Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked sales area

What we are looking for:

Customer service experience; building materials or hardware sales preferred
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain products clearly
Comfort in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment
Basic computer skills, including POS or invoice entry systems
Availability for retail hours, including one weekend day per week
