Diversity & Community Engagement Manager
Job Description
The City of Bremerton, located in the beautiful Puget Sound region of Washington State, is looking for a Diversity & Community Engagement Manager to guide efforts in promoting equity, diversity, and meaningful community involvement. This role is essential in ensuring city services, policies, and programs meet the needs of all community members. The successful candidate will help shape the City's culture, enhance engagement with underrepresented groups, and drive impactful change.
In this position, you will work closely with the Mayor, City Council, and senior officials to ensure the City’s initiatives reflect its commitment to fairness and broad community engagement. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to improve processes and ensure equitable treatment for all residents.
Ideal Candidate:
We are seeking someone with a strong vision for diversity and equity who can engage effectively with a wide range of communities. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, experience in community outreach or public engagement, and the ability to influence policy through collaboration with senior government officials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies that ensure fair and equitable service delivery across all City departments
- Serve as the liaison between the City and local organizations, strengthening relationships with various community groups
- Create and deliver training programs focusing on diversity, equity, and organizational development for City staff
- Offer advice and recommendations to City leadership on diversity, equity, and inclusion best practices
- Organize and manage community events that foster cultural exchange and education
Qualifications:
- At least three years of experience in community outreach, public relations, or diversity and equity roles, preferably in urban environments
- Strong expertise in organizational development and equity-focused practices
- Experience working with government agencies or public institutions is preferred

This position is set at Pay Band 14 in the City of Bremerton's pay structure, listing salary as $94,498 - $118,791 plus benefits, including medical/dental/vision/4% contribution to a 457b Deferred Compensation Plan ($3,900-$4,751 annually), PERS retirement plan, and sick/vacation/holidays and bereavement leave. Hybrid, remote work/telecommuting upon Mayor’s approval.
