Job Description

West Sound Workforce is supporting Port Townsend Paper Corporation with their annual maintenance closure in November by hiring temporary Safety Watch Attendants. This well-established company, with 90 years of continuous operation, is a safety-focused leader in producing environmentally responsible Kraft pulp products.

As a Safety Watch Attendant, you’ll play a key role in protecting the skilled tradespeople working onsite. Your responsibility will be to monitor confined spaces, ensure only authorized personnel enter, and report any safety concerns. While the work itself is simple, your attentiveness directly impacts worker safety and helps keep the project on schedule.

There’s no heavy lifting, and full training is provided. Overtime is available, making this a great way to earn solid pay in a short period, while contributing to the safety and success of an important local project.

Shift information:
  • 10-12 hour shifts
  • Day and overnight schedules available
What you will do as a Safety Attendant:
  • Monitor and control access to confined spaces, ensuring only authorized personnel enter and exit
  • Keep accurate, detailed records of confined space activities, including entry logs and air quality test results
  • Observe environmental conditions inside and around confined spaces before, during, and after entry to ensure worker safety
  • Act as a first line of defense by reporting hazards and requesting assistance immediately in case of an emergency
  • Support the overall safety team in maintaining compliance with OSHA and site-specific safety standards
What we are looking for:
  • A strong safety-first mindset and the ability to stay alert during long shifts
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality, this is critical to project success
  • Comfort working in an industrial or manufacturing environment (no prior experience required; training provided)
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English well enough to follow safety procedures and complete documentation
